• The Short Story: Host Muhlenberg scored an early goal and made it stand up in a 1-0 win over the Johns Hopkins field hockey team Friday night. The Blue Jays suffer their first conference loss of the season in falling to the unbeaten Mules.
How it Happened
• Muhlenberg got all the offense it needed just 2:31 into the game when Rachel Strow, the conference's leading scorer, put home a Taylor Smith pass.
• Hopkins drew a penalty stroke at the 11:26-mark. Junior Morgan Pothast's shot missed just wide left, though Mules goalie Emma Rosenthal had lunged to the same side.
What it Means
• Johns Hopkins is 18-8 all-time against Muhlenberg, though the Mules have won three straight in the series. The last two meetings have been decided by the same 1-0 score. In fact, 18 of the 26 all-time meetings have been decided by just one goal.
• The Mules are the third undefeated team the Blue Jays have faced this season.

• Junior Greta Helvie started and played the first half, she finished with five saves in taking the loss. Senior Zoey Atabek came on at the half and made a pair of saves without allowing a goal. Emma Rosenthal posted five saves in earning the shutout.
