The Short Story: The 11
th-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team used a pair of second-half goals to defeat visiting Gettysburg, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon in its regular season home finale.
Â
How it Happened
• The Blue Jays poured on the pressure in the first half, but couldn't get one past Bullets' goalie Jillian Caputo. Hopkins broke through with two goals in a span of just two minutes and 30 seconds early in the second half to take control of the game.
• Just 2:02 into the second, junior
Katie McErlean intercepted a pass and ripped a shot from the top of the circle inside the right post.
• Two and a half minutes later, Hopkins held a two-goal lead that would hold up. Freshman
Avery Seward dribbled in from the left side and then slipped a pass into sophomore
Michaela Corvi in the middle of the circle. With her back to the goalie, Corvi collected the pass, turned and lifted a shot over Caputo.
Â
What it Means
