• The Short Story: The No. 16 Johns Hopkins volleyball team dropped its first match of the year as the Blue Jays fell to Dickinson, 3-1, on the road Wednesday night.
How it Happened
SET 1
•The Red Devils got out to an early 4-2 lead, but a kill from
Sarah Khan and an attacking error by Dickinson tied the match.
• The two teams exchanged 2-0 runs to knot the score at six and the Centennial rivals would go back-and-forth, before, with the score tied at 14, Dickinson scored eight straight points to take a 21-14 lead.
• Kills from
Michelle Abt and
Morgan Wu made the score 22-16, however, the Red Devils were able to hang on and take the first set by a score of 25-18.
SET 2
•With the score tied at eight, the Blue Jays scored eight of the next 12 points to pull ahead 16-12 and force a Dickinson timeout. Out of the timeout, JHU scored five of the next 10 points to take a 21-17 advantage and force another Red Devils' timeout.
• Trailing 23-20, Dickinson scored four straight to take a 24-23 lead and earn set point.
• The Blue Jays called a timeout, and out of the timeout, Hopkins scored the next three points on two kills from Abt and an ace from
Louisa Kishton to win set two, 26-24.
SET 3
• Johns Hopkins took an 11-7 lead in the third, but the Red Devils pulled to within one on a bad set from Hopkins.
• An attack error put the Blue Jays back up two at 12-10, however, Dickinson scored the next two points to tie the match.

Simone Bliss gave Hopkins a 15-13 advantage but Dickinson scored the next three to take a 16-15 advantage.

Eleni Panagopoulos tied the match at 16 with a kill but the Red Devils responded, scoring the next four points to go ahead 20-16.
• The home team scored five of the set's final nine points to take set three, 25-20.
SET 4
•With the set tied at four, Dickinson scored the next three points to take a 7-4 lead as the Red Devils would hold the lead for the remainder of the set.
• The Blue Jays went on a 6-0 run to pull to within two at 22-20, but that's as close as Hopkins would get as the Red Devils won the set, 25-23, and the match 3-1.
What it Means
• The loss is the first of the season for JHU and is the first conference loss since Hopkins fell to McDaniel, 3-1 on October 28, 2015.
• JHU is now 29-7 all-time against the Red Devils.
Inside the Box Score
• Bliss recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 15 digs.
• Kishton led the team with 23 digs while Abt finished with 13.

Sarah Khan led Hopkins with 23 assists while
Morgan Wu finished with 17.
