The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins water polo team ended the regular season with a pair of losses at George Washington and Navy on Saturday.

How it Happened • George Washington
• George Washington jumped out to a 2-0 lead before a
John Murphy goal at the 2:02-mark. Atakan Destici answered with a goal for the Colonials to put the home team up 3-1. Just 36 seconds later however, senior
Andreas Katsis scored to pull the Blue Jays back within one.
• The Colonials scored four straight to open the second quarter and push out to a 7-2 lead by the 5:36-mark. Murphy ended the run with his second of the morning and GW took a 7-3 lead into the half.
• Andrew Mavis and Andres Levai scored back-to-back goals to open the third and push GW's lead to 9-3. Hopkins responded with goals from Katsis and junior
Finn Banks in a span of just 24 seconds to cut the deficit to four with 4:15 to go in the quarter. Nick Schroeder got one back for the Colonials 20 seconds later as they took a 10-5 lead after three.
• The Colonials extended their lead to seven with back-to-back goals midway through the fourth. Senior
Giorgio Cico ended the run with his goal at 3:18, but GW got goals from Jordan Blosser and Josh Yardley to go up 15-6 with 41 ticks on the clock. Senior
Ryan Masi would add one more for the Blue Jays with 13 seconds to go.

How it Happened • Navy
• In an identical start to the morning match, Navy scored the first two goals before Murphy struck for Hopkins. Senior
Josh Kurtz then tied it up and Murphy notched his second of the stanza to give the Blue Jays a 3-2 lead after one.
• Banks opened the second-quarter scoring to push the Jays' lead to two. The Midshipmen scored back-to-back goals to knot the score at four with 4:59 to go in the second. Sophomore
Nico Ivanov answered just 31 seconds later to give Hopkins back the lead. It was short-lived however, as Navy answered with a 3-1 run to take a 7-6 lead at the half.
• The Mids picked up where they left off, scoring six straight in a run that spanned all of the third and the first three minutes of the fourth and saw Navy go up 13-6. Freshman
Jake Pearson ended the run with his second of the afternoon and the final goal of the game with 3:29 to play.

Inside the Box Score
• Murphy led the Blue Jays against the Colonials with the two goals while freshman
Jakob Whitaker handed out two assists. Murphy also had two steals and a block and Banks also had two steals and a drawn ejection.
• Senior
Spencer Witte made 12 saves against GW and 11 at Navy. That gives him 317 for his career and moves him into fifth in school history.
• Murphy and Pearson each had a pair of goals against Navy while Cico dished three helpers. Ivanov drew three ejections to go with his one goal. Katsis had three blocks while drawing an ejection and grabbing a steal.
• Banks totaled two goals on the day and earned the 200
th point of his career. He is the 17
th player in program history to reach the milestone.
• Cico's three assists give him 179 for his career, just nine shy of tying Alex Whittam's program record (188).
