The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins water polo team ended the season with a 7-6 win over Navy and finished fifth at the 2018 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Championship.

How it Happened
• Seniors
Andreas Katsis and
Ryan Masi scored the game's first two goals to stake Hopkins to the early lead. Trevor Clark got Navy on the board, and cut the deficit in half, with a man-up goal with just 34 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
• Clark scored again on the man-up to tie the game at two with 6:17 to go in the second. Masi answered with a man-up goal at the 3:52-mark to put Hopkins back on top 3-2. Just 62 seconds later, the match was tied at three on Cole Jacobs' goal.
• Just like the start of the first, Katsis and Masi scored back-to-back goals to open the third quarter and put Hopkins on top 5-3. Kevin Volkov and Jake Haines then sandwiched goals around a five-meter from senior
Giorgio Cico and Hopkins led 6-5 with 41 seconds to go in the quarter.
• Clark scored on the man-advantage with 3:22 to play in the game to tie the score at six. Less than a minute later however, junior
Finn Banks scored to put Hopkins back on top, for good.

What it Means
• Hopkins snaps its two-game losing streak to Navy and improves to 9-53 all-time in the series. Eight of the nine wins have come since 2012.

• Cico led the Blue Jays with six points on a goal and five assists, while also grabbing three steals. Cico was named to the MAWPC All-Tournament Second Team. His five helpers give him 188 for his career – tying the program's all-time record. In addition, he ranks among the all-time greats in school history with 370 points (fifth), 182 goals (11
th), 135 steals (T-12
th), 37 blocks (fifth) and 78 ejections drawn (12
th).
• Masi notched his first hat trick of the season to go with two steals and three ejections drawn. He concludes his career ranked 14
th in career steals (134), fourth in career blocks (38), tied for 15
th in ejections drawn (56). Masi also totaled 95 points on 64 goals and 31 assists.
• Katsis finished with two goals and two ejections drawn. For his career, he's totaled 148 points, 121 goals, 27 assists, 80 steals, 14 blocks and 69 ejections drawn. He ranks 25
th in JHU history in points and goals, 16
th in blocks and 13
th in ejections drawn.

Josh Kurtz ends his career with 259 points, 138 goals, 121 assists, 89 steals, 18 blocks and 54 ejections drawn. He ranks 13
th in career points, tied for 18
th in goals, seventh in assists, tied for 18

th in ejections drawn.
• Senior
Spencer Witte tied his career-high with 17 saves in the win. He wraps up his career with 354 saves, which ranks fifth in school history. He made 260 saves in 2018, the sixth highest total in school history. Â
