Complete 2019 Inside Lacrosse Preseason Media All-America Team
BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team had three players named to the 2019 Inside Lacrosse Preseason Media All-America Team it was recently announced. The team was voted on by media members who vote in the weekly media poll.
Senior defenseman
Patrick Foley was named to the first team, while senior short stick defensive midfielder
Danny Jones and junior attackman
Cole Williams both garnered honorable mention status.
Foley earned First Team Inside Lacrosse All-America, Third Team USILA All-America and Second Team All-Big Ten honors last season. He totaled one goal, 30 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers during the 2018 season and routinely drew the assignment of covering the opposition's top attackman. His 14 caused turnovers were tied for the team lead.
Jones, who will serve as a team co-captain in 2019, established himself as one of the top short stick defensive midfielders in the nation last season. He grabbed 10 ground balls and tied Foley for the team lead with 14 caused turnovers. His 14 CTs last season are the most in school history by a non-close defenseman/long-stick middie.
Williams enjoyed a breakout season as a sophomore and earned Second Team All-America honors from the USILA and Inside Lacrosse and was also a Second Team All-Big Ten selection. He finished second on the team in goals (35) and fourth in points (49) and assists (14) in 2018.
Johns Hopkins, which is ranked ninth in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Preseason Poll, will open the 2019 season at Towson on February 9 (12 pm).
