- Records: JHU (7-3, 0-1 B1G) - UM (6-1, 1-0 B1G)
- Location: Baltimore, MD - Homewood Field
- The Short Story: Visiting Maryland used five and four-goal runs in the first half to take control of the game en route to a 15-5 win over the 24th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team Saturday afternoon in both teams' Big Ten opener.

How it Happened
- The Terps, the number one offense in the country, scored the game's first five goals in the opening eight minutes to take the early lead. Senior Shannon Fitzgerald ended the run and got Hopkins on the board, scoring off the dodge at the 18:28-mark. Six minutes later, junior Nicole DeMase found a cutting Mackenzie Heldberg and she fired a shot into the upper right corner to make it a 5-2 game.
- Kali Hartshorn answered with a one-timer from the left alley at 11:12 to spark a four-goal Maryland run that saw the lead grow to 9-2 just six minutes later. Taylor Hensh capped the run when Caroline Steele found her open in the slot off a restart.
- Heldberg grabbed her second of the half as she took a pass from junior Miranda Ibello and slotted a shot inside the left post with 4:18 to play. Steele had the final say of the half however as she scored on a low shot in transition to send Maryland into the break with a 10-3 lead.
- After the high scoring first half, it took until the 19:10-mark of the second before either team would get on the board. It was Steele who would break the drought, scoring on a bouncer on the run to push the lead to 11-3. Fitzgerald responded with her second of the day, scoring from eight yards out while falling down.
- The Terps answered just 30 seconds later, getting a goal from Jen Giles on a shot to the left post to make it a 12-4 game. Steele and Megan Whittle pushed the lead to 10 with back-to-back goals just 39 seconds apart. Senior CeCe Finney ended the three-goal spurt when she beat Megan Taylor top shelf off the Fitzgerald feed at 5:56. Hensh closed out the scoring two minutes later with a free position shot.
