The Basics
- Score: #25 Johns Hopkins-13, Ohio State-5 - Records: JHU (9-6, 2-3 B1G) - OSU (5-10, 1-5 B1G) - Location: Baltimore, MD - Homewood Field - The Short Story: The 25th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team used a nine-goal run, that spanned nearly 30 minutes of game time, to take control en route to a 13-5 win over visiting Ohio State Friday afternoon.

How it Happened
- Ohio State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the game's opening 10 minutes with Liza Hernandez scoring a pair for the Buckeyes.
- Sophomore Mackenzie Heldberg got Hopkins on the board at the 17:37-mark, scoring on a quick-stick shot to spark that nine-goal run. Senior Shannon Fitzgerald won the ensuing draw and went right to the cage to pull the Blue Jays within one just 15 seconds later. She then tied the game, picking the far post off the run at 15:39.
- Heldberg put the Blue Jays on top just 48 seconds later with her second goal in less than three minutes. Fitzgerald drew a double team and then fed a cutting Heldberg, who scored on a left-handed shot at 14:51.
- The pace slowed until the final three minutes when the Blue Jays tacked on three more goals to go into the half up 7-3. Fitzgerald completed her hat trick at 2:42 when she lost her defender behind the cage and then beat Jill Rizzo low from the doorstep. Sophomore Maggie Schneidereith then converted a free position shot 24 second slater and the lead was 6-3. Junior Nicole DeMase capped the first-half scoring with a free position goal with just seven ticks on the clock.
- Freshman Shelby Harrison struck first in the second half, dodging the left alley and scoring in traffic to push the lead to five. Nearly 10 minutes later, the Blue Jays capitalized in transition as a Trinity McPherson caused turnover led to a fast break goal for Schneidereith.
- Sara Dickinson ended the Hopkins' run when she took a pass from Hernandez and beat junior Haley Crosson low on the crease at 15:06. The goal ended a scoring drought of 34:59 for the Buckeyes. The Blue Jays answered with three straight, book-ended by a pair from Schneidereith to go up 12-4 with 6:08 to play.
- Lindsay Epstein got one back for the Buckeyes when she scored on a left-handed shot off the dodge at 4:21 to cut the deficit to seven. Senior Chloe Duke answered with her first goal of the season to stake Hopkins to the 13-5 lead. Senior CeCe Finney carried the goal behind the cage, Duke spun on her defender and beat Rizzo to the far post off the feed from Finney.

What it Means
- Hopkins improves to 11-6 all-time against Ohio State and has won two straight and three of the last four. The Blue Jays are 8-1 all-time against the Buckeyes at Homewood Field.
- Fitzgerald moves into 11th in school Division I history with 142 career points and 17th with 35 career assists. She also now ranks 16th with 74 career draw controls.
- With a pair of assists, junior Miranda Ibello moved into a tie for sixth in school Division I history with 55 career helpers.
- McPherson finished the game with four caused turnovers, a career high and just two shy of the school single-game record.
