- The Short Story: Host and second-ranked Williams beat the 23rd-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team, 5-0, on Saturday morning in the NCAA Sweet 16.
How it Happened
- The undefeated Ephs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the match by sweeping the doubles matches. Juli Raventos and Julie Cancio took the first point of the match when they beat freshman Anjie Kashyap and sophomore Sophia Strickland, 8-2, at first doubles.
- Chloe Henderson and Mia Gancayco followed with an 8-1 win over junior Katie Gauch and freshman Margo Gerke at third. Korina Neveux and Giulia McDonnell completed the sweep with an 8-3 win at second over freshman Dhanya Asokumar and junior Kimberly Zou.
- Lea Bush pushed Williams one point away from the quarterfinals when she defeated Strickland 6-0, 6-0 at second singles. Gancayco then clinched the win for the Ephs with a 6-1, 6-0 win at fourth over Asokumar.
