• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins volleyball team won its third game in four days as JHU defeated Haverford, 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to extend the Blue Jays' winning streak to 13.
How it Happened
SET 1
• The Fords opened the first set on a 5-0 run, but back-to-back kills from
Simone Bliss stopped the Haverford run and made the score 5-2.
• Haverford pulled out to a 10-6 lead before the Blue Jays went on a 6-2 run to tie the match at 12 on a service ace from
Lauren Anthony.
• The Blue Jays pulled ahead 15-13 on another Bliss kill to force Haverford to take a timeout. The Fords then scored six of the next 10 points to tie the match at 19 and force a Hopkins timeout.
• JHU then went on a 3-1 run to make the score 22-20 and force the Fords to take their final timeout of the set.
• Out of the timeout, Haverford scored five-straight points to take set one, 25-22.
SET 2
• Hopkins opened up set two with a 5-0 run of its own and eventually pulled ahead 8-2.
• The Fords got to within three at 11-8, but the Blue Jays scored the next six points to take a 17-8 lead as the Blue Jays took set two by a 25-14 score.
SET 3
• With the score tied at three, Johns Hopkins scored four consecutive points to take a 7-3 lead.
• Haverford then scored five of the next six points to tie the match at eight and the Fords would eventually pull ahead 11-10 as JHU took a timeout.
• Out of the timeout with the match tied at 12, the Blue Jays six straight points to pull ahead 17-12.
• The Fords got to within four at 20-16, however, JHU held on to take the third set 25-17 as
Michelle Abt's kill sealed the victory.
SET 4
• The Blue Jays fell behind 7-3 in the fourth, but they rallied and a kill from Bliss tied the match at 10.
• With the score 17-16 in favor of Hopkins, the Blue Jays scored seven-straight points to get to match point, and Hopkins got the match point on an attacking error to win the set, 25-17.
What it Means
• The 13-match winning streak to open the season is just three shy of tying the program records for most consecutive wins to open a season.
• The first set loss was the first time the Blue Jays have dropped a set at home.
Inside the Box Score
• Abt finished with 13 kills and 13 digs while Bliss had 18 kills and 14 digs.

Sarah Khan finished with a match-high 31 assists and also added seven digs.
• The Blue Jays hit .252 in the match while Haverford finished with a hitting percentage of .033.
