The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's swim team opened the 2019 portion of its schedule with a dominating performance in a quad meet with Swarthmore, Stevens and Rowan. The Blue Jays won 10 of the 14 events to sweep the meet.

• Hopkins kicked off the day with first and third-place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay. Senior

Rabia Syed followed with a second-place finish in the 1650 Free with a time of 18:17.48.

Sami Kegel then went one-three in the 200 Free with both turning in career-best swims. Irato won, by one-hundredth of a second, as she clocked in at 1:55.96 while Kegel finished in 1:57.75.
• Okubo led a contingent of Blue Jays that claimed first, second and fourth in the 100 Back. She took the top spot, and posted an NCAA B cut, in 56.99. Rincon claimed second in 57.22 and junior
Kiki Petersen placed fourth in 59.63.

Claire State then tied for second place in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:08.54.
• The Blue Jays followed with a sweep of the top three spots in the 200 Fly. Ssengonzi led the way with a career best, as well as NCAA B cut, time of 2:05.84. Junior
Michelle Wang placed second with a career-best time of 2:08.76 and senior
Elizabeth Duncan took third in 2:11.15.
• In the 50 Free, Shapiro beat sophomore
Mikayla Bisignani by just four hundredths of a second, as she clocked in at 24.74. Sophomore
Tiffany Lara and Pearson finished in a tie for fourth in 25.25.
• Alicea-Jorgensen took second in the 100 Free as she touched in 53.01. Petersen followed in 53.59 for fourth with sophomore
Hanan Bandak placing fifth in 54.01.
• Wang then grabbed first in the 200 Back as she clocked in at 2:06.97 and Irato placed second in 2:09.63.
• Hopkins took the top two spots in the 200 Breast. Lin touched in 2:20.50 to win the event with a career best and NCAA B cut. Okubo touched in 2:23.14 for second place.
• Sophomore
Emma McElrath picked up another win for the Blue Jays, swimming a 5:01.99 in the 500 Free. Senior
Colleen Anderson finished in 5:20.44 for fourth place. Â
• Rincon beat the field in the 100 Fly as she touched in 57.08. Duncan followed in second (58.64) and senior
Emily Cheng placed fourth (59.83).
• McElrath grabbed her second individual win, taking the top spot in the 200 IM in 2:09.38.
• In the final event of the day, Hopkins won the 200 Free Relay as Petersen, Bisignani, Alicea-Jorgensen and Shapiro combined for a 1:36.61.
