Katie McErlean had a hand in three goals to lead the eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team to a 6-1 win at Gettysburg Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened
• Hopkins struck early, scoring a pair of goals in a span of 2:11 to grab the early lead. Sophomore
Maddie Brown-Scherer took a pass from McErlean and blasted a shot from the right wing past Jillian Caputo just five minutes in. On a breakaway, freshman
Sadie Abboud crossed the ball to junior

• McErlean converted a penalty stroke in the second and third quarters to push the Blue Jays' lead to 4-0. Senior
Christina Glaser one-timed a centering pass from sophomore
Izzy Thompson at the 40:03-mark. Less than two minutes later, Thompson was on the receiving end, tipping in a pass from sophomore
Abby Birk.
• Lauren Beccaria ended Hopkins' bid for a shutout with just over 11 minutes to play, when she scored off a rebound in front. Â

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 22-19-1 all-time versus Gettysburg and has won the last three meetings. The Blue Jays are just 7-12-1 at Gettysburg.
• The Blue Jays have scored 62 goals on the season, the most since the 2008 squad 79. The 66 goals are tied for fourth most in school history.

• McErlean's five points (2g, 1a) are a career best and she ranks 10
th in school history with 69 career points. She is also tied for ninth with 26 career goals. In addition, she is just the third player in program history to score two penalty strokes in the same game.
• Birk moved into a tie for sixth in school history with her 19
th career assist. She leads the Centennial Conference with 13 helpers this season.
• Hopkins outshot Gettysburg, 26-2, and had a 12-7 edge in corners.
