Johns Hopkins Shuts Out Dickinson, 4-0

The Basics
• Score: #10 Johns Hopkins-4, Dickinson-0
• Records: JHU (9-2, 4-0 CC) • DC (5-6, 2-3 CC)
• Location: Baltimore, MD • Homewood Field
• The Short Story: The 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team jumped out to a two-goal lead in the game's first six minutes en route to a 4-0 win over visiting Dickinson Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened
• The Blue Jays wasted little time getting on the board. Sophomore Izzy Thompson crossed the ball into the circle and it was misplayed by a Red Devils' defender. Sophomore Maddie Brown-Scherer bounced on the ball and slotted a shot under goalie Heather Meeder just 2:04 into the game.
• Hopkins pushed its lead to two three minutes later. Senior Sophie Kim sent a long ball to freshman Sadie Abboud, who dribbled around a defender and then went in on the Dickinson cage before scoring to the left post from a tough angle.
• Hopkins struck early in the second quarter, scoring must 24 seconds in off a penalty corner. Senior Katie McErlean passed down to sophomore Abby Birk, who crossed it. Sophomore Bryn Rolon one-timed the cross from the middle of the circle.
• Freshman Tessa Erickson pushed the Blue Jays' lead to four just 2:55 into the third quarter. She made a nice run down the right side and hit a long cross through the circle. Sophomore Myra Granato collected the pass and sent it back into the circle, where Erickson lifted a shot over the outstretched leg of Meeder.

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 22-19-2 all-time against Dickinson and has won three straight in the series. This is the second time in the last three meetings that the Blue Jays have shut out the Red Devils.
