Blue Jays Welcome Eagles For Senior Day

The Game
«  Johns Hopkins (5-3, 4-3 Centennial) closes out the home portion of its 2019 regular season schedule as the Blue Jays welcome Juniata (2-6, 2-5 CC) to Homewood Field.  Kickoff is set for 12 pm.

A Look Back
«  Johns Hopkins dropped a 31-16 decision at sixth-ranked Muhlenberg last Saturday.
«  Juniata dropped its third straight as the Eagles fell at Dickinson, 51-21, last Saturday as well.

Post-Season Talk
«  Johns Hopkins' eight-year streak of qualifying for the NCAA Playoffs officially ended with last week's loss at Muhlenberg.  In addition to Johns Hopkins, only Mount Union and Mary Hardin-Baylor also qualified for the NCAA Playoffs in each of the last eight seasons as well.
«  Johns Hopkins can lock up a berth in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series with wins in each of its last two regular season games (the Blue Jays could also get in with one win, but two wins assure JHU a spot).
«  The Centennial-MAC Bowl games will be played at campus sites on November 23 with the following schedule (after teams from both leagues that qualify for the NCAA Playoffs are removed from the standings):

2019 Centennial-MAC Bowl Game Schedule
MAC #2 Seed at Centennial #1 Seed
Centennial #2 Seed at MAC #1 Seed
Centennial #3 Seed at MAC #3 Seed

Honoring Our Seniors
«  This week's game against Juniata will be the final regular season home game in the careers of the seniors on the 2019 Johns Hopkins football team. This year's senior class will go down as one of the most accomplished in program history.  Below is a look at some of their collective team achievements since arriving in 2016:
«  Johns Hopkins won three Centennial Conference titles and made three trips to the NCAA Playoffs during their career.
«  The Blue Jays are 37-8 since the current seniors arrived at Homewood.  Included in that record is a 33-5 regular season mark and a 20-3 record at Homewood Field
«  The current seniors were part of four NCAA Playoff victories.  That's the second-most NCAA victories by any class in school history.
«  The 37 wins the current seniors have amassed rank eighth in program history for any class.  They could become just the sixth class in school history to reach 40 wins during their career with three more wins.

November Reign
«  Johns Hopkins will carry a 13-game regular season home winning streak in the month of November into this week's game against Juniata.  The Blue Jays last lost a regular season home game in November in 2007 (F&M, 19-11).
«  Johns Hopkins is 21-1 in its last 22 regular season home games in the month of November and 21-2 this century (2000-present) in regular season home games in November.]
«  Johns Hopkins dropped its first regular season game in the month of November since 2012 with its loss last week at sixth-ranked Muhlenberg.  The Blue Jays had won 15 straight regular season games in November before last week's loss.

After the Bye
«  Dating back to 2011, when the Centennial Conference went to a league-wide bye in the middle of the season, Johns Hopkins is 38-3 in regular season games played after the bye week.
«  In games played after the bye since 2011, the Blue Jays are 18-2 in regular season games played on the road and 20-1 in regular season games played at home.

On This Date
«  This week's game will be the 17th the Blue Jays have played on this date - and the first since Hopkins topped Franklin & Marshall, 45-30, in 2013.
«  The Blue Jays are 8-7-1 all-time in games played on November 9 and have currently won two straight and four of their last six games played on this date.

A Defensive Group
«  Through eight games, the Johns Hopkins defense is allowing just 17.8 points and 351.2 yards per game.
«  Johns Hopkins ranks third in the Centennial in scoring defense, sixth in total defense and first in passing defense (159.1).
«  The opposition has completed just 47.1% of its passes against the Blue Jays (104-of-221) with eight touchdown passes against 11 interceptions.
«  The Blue Jays have allowed just 77 total points in the first three quarters of their eight games thus far.
«  JHU ranks 17th in the nation in pass efficiency defense (97.44 rating).

Getting On Track
«  Johns Hopkins scored 41 points in the 41-0 victory over Moravian (9-20) and followed that with a 37-point effort at Dickinson and a 32-point showing at Ursinus.  The Blue Jays scored at least 27 points in four straight games before F&M held JHU to 17 in a 20-17 Diplomat victory.  That game was followed by the 63-point outburst against Gettysburg (W/63-7).
«  In addition to the scoring being up, the yards have started to pile up for the Blue Jays as well.  After punching up 277 yards of total offense in the season-opener at Randolph-Macon, JHU has 409 (Susquehanna), 484 (Moravian), 482 (Dickinson), 350 (Ursinus) , 415 (F&M), 682 (Gettysburg)  and 412 (Muhlenberg) yards in its last seven games.
«  Through eight games, Johns Hopkins ranks third in the Centennial in scoring offense (31.3), first in total offense (438.9) and first in passing offense (324.8).

60+
«  The 63-point showing in the recent 63-7 win against Gettysburg marked the 12th time in school history that Johns Hopkins has scored 60 or more points in a game.
«  Five of JHU's 60-point games have come since the start of the 2011 season and three have come since the start of the 2018 season.

Tammaro in the Record Book
«  Senior QB David Tammaro was 33-of-55 for 340 yards with one touchdown against two interceptions in last week's game at sixth-ranked Muhlenberg.  In the process, he broke one school record and tied another.
«  Tammaro's 340-yard effort was the 13th 300-yard passing day of his carer, which moves him into first place on the JHU and CC career 300-yard passing games list. He also tied Hewitt Tomlin's school and Centennial record with his 31st career 200-yard passing game.
«  With his effort against Muhlenberg, Tammaro is also now just 248 yards shy of Tomlin's JHU record for career total offense (10,677 - 10,429) and he needs just 497 passing yards to join Tomlin as the only two quarterbacks in JHU history to reach 10,000 passing yards.
«  With 74 rushing yards, he'll become the second player in CC history with 9,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards and with seven more total touchdowns (rushing or passing), he'll become the second player in CC history to amass 100 career touchdowns.

Wellmann Ties JHU Record

«  Wellmann's 95-yard kickoff return for a TD against the Red Devils is tied for the longest in school history and he returned three kickoffs on the day for 156 yards (52.0 yards/game).  He added eight receptions for 142 yards to ring up his 298-yard all-purpose performance.  For his efforts he was named the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week and his 298 all-purpose yards against Dickinson rank as the eighth-best total in school history.
«  Wellmann totaled at least 100 receiving yards in three straight games (7-108-2 vs. Moravian, 8-142-0 at Dickinson, 4-106-2 at Ursinus) to become the first JHU receiver with three straight 100-yard games since Sam Wernick did it in 2010.  He then had four receptions for 76 yards and one score against F&M before exploding against Gettysburg.
