• The Short Story: The 16^th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team split its matches on Sunday, beating Christopher Newport, 7-2, and losing to Delaware, 7-0.
 
How it Happened • Christopher Newport
• Hopkins opened the match with a sweep of the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead. Juniors Joe Cartledge and Austin Gu earned an 8-6 win over Ryan Macy and Andy Mason at first.
• Seniors Colin Muraika and Scott Thygesen won by the same score over Nicholas Ruzicka and William Trang at second. Sophomore Vishnu Joshi and junior Vik Vasan dropped just two games in their win at third over Mason Kolls and Dominic Lacombe.
• In singles, Joshi needed just 15 games to beat Mason 6-2, 6-1, at first. Lacombe picked up a win for the Captains with a close 7-6, 6-4 win at second over Thygesen. Macy pulled out a 6-2, 0-6, 7-5 win at third over Gu.
• Junior Cody Kim was a 6-4, 6-3 winner at fourth over Ruzicka. Cartledge was also a straight-set winner, beating Kolls 6-1, 6-3 at sixth. Freshman Naevin Anukornchaikul closed out the match with a come-from-behind 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) win at fifth over Trang.
 
How it Happened • Delaware
• The Blue Hens grabbed an early lead in the match by winning all three doubles matches. Luis Molina and James Wilkinson beat freshman Eric Burrer and sophomore Alex Matisse, 6-3, at first. Nathan Benyowitz and Laurenz Lankes then secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win at second over junior Aaron Carey and sophomore Eric Yoo. Justice Jones and Milo Nagle closed out doubles with a 6-3 win over sophomore Matt Lurie and freshman Brian Wang.
• Wilkinson picked up the first point of singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Yoo at first. Guilherme Valdoleiros followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Wang at third. Jones then defeated Burrer 6-1, 6-3 at fourth to clinch the win for Delaware. Molina beat Carey 6-2, 7-5 at second and Blaise Casselbury won by a 6-0, 6-0 score at fifth over Lurie. Curran Verma wrapped up the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over sophomore Robby Simon at sixth.
 
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 7-1 all-time against Christopher Newport and has won four straight in the series.
• JHU falls to 10-15 against Delaware in the first meeting between the two since 2016.
