The Basics

• Location: Baltimore, MD • Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium

• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins baseball team got solid pitching from Harrison Folk and Josh Hejka as Hopkins shutout Gwynedd Mercy, 5-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Babb Field.

How it Happened
• JHU looked to get on the board early, loading the bases in the first but Boyle was able to escape the bases loaded jam and keep the game scoreless.
• In the fourth, Folk got into a one-out, bases loaded jam, but the senior got a shallow fly out and a groundout as the game remained scoreless.
• Austin Sacks broke the scoreless tie as he launched a Boyle pitch deep over the right field fence to give the Blue Jays the 1-0 lead. It is the second homer for Sacks this season.
• Folk got into another jam in the fifth as the Griffins had runners on first and second with two outs. Hejka came in to relieve Folk, and after the runners advanced into scoring position, Hejka induced a groundout to second to end the inning.
• The Blue Jays loaded the bases in the fifth and Sacks worked a walk to force in a run and make it a 2-0 ballgame. The Griffins were able to get out of the inning allowing just the one run.
• A three-run seventh got started with a Chris Festa homerun to right-center. Adam Kohl later doubled home Chris DeGiacomo and Mike Ainsworth followed with a single to score Kohl from second and give the Blue Jays a 5-0 lead.
• Gwynedd Mercy got two guys on in the eighth against Hejka but he once again got out of the inning and followed with a 1-2-3 ninth to seal the 5-0 victory.
