ROSEMONT, IL – For the second time this season, Johns Hopkins attackman
Joey Epstein has been named the Big Ten Men's Lacrosse Freshman of the Week it was announced today. Including Epstein's two selections, this is the 11
th time a Johns Hopkins player has earned Freshman of the Week honors from the Big Ten since the league added the sport in 2015.
Epstein scored five goals in Johns Hopkins' 16-11 loss to ninth -ranked Virginia last Saturday. The five goals are a career high and the most by a Johns Hopkins freshman since current Blue Jay offensive coordinator
Bobby Benson had five against Loyola on May 6, 2000.
Through eight games, Epstein counts 20 goals and eight assists for 28 points to his credit. He leads the team in goals and points and ranks second in assists. His 3.5 points per game is tied for sixth nationally among freshmen while his 2.5 goals per game is tied for fourth.
Johns Hopkins (4-4) will travel to Michigan (3-5) to take on the Wolverines on Saturday, March 30 (3 pm faceoff). The game will air live on BTN.
