Josh Hejka Named Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week

Hejka Went 1-0 With Eight Strikeouts In Three Appearances During The Week

LANCASTER, PA – Senior pitcher Josh Hejka of the Johns Hopkins baseball team has been named the Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week the conference announced today.
 
Hejka appeared in three of the four games for Hopkins this week as the Blue Jays went 4-0, including two victories over #11 Cortland State. The senior made his first appearance of the week against Gwynedd Mercy, pitching 4.1 innings in relief to earn the victory. He allowed just three hits while striking out four. The Dearborn, MI native notched his first save of the season against Rutgers-Camden on Saturday as he pitched the final two innings, allowing no hits or walks and striking out three. He pitched two more innings against Cortland on Sunday and allowed just three hits and two runs and recording one strikeout.
 
The senior finished the week pitching 8.1 innings allowing just six hits and two runs. He gave up no walks and struck out eight batters. For his career, he now has seven wins, nine saves and 86 strikeouts.
 
Hejka and the Blue Jays are scheduled to return to the field on Wednesday, March 6 in a non-conference matchup against Messiah. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm at Babb Field.
