Chris DeGiacomo Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week

DeGiacomo Hit Three Home Runs and Knocked in Seven Runs During the Week

LANCASTER, PA – Chris DeGiacomo  of the Johns Hopkins baseball team has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week as the graduate student was instrumental in the Blue Jays 3-0 week which saw the Hopkins' offense put up a total of 42 runs during the week as he hit .667 (8-for-12) with three home runs and seven RBI. The graduate student was also selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week. 
 
DeGiacomo opened up the week going 4-6 against Catholic with two RBI, a home run and three runs scored as Hopkins defeated the Cardinals 12-2. The Norwell, MA native continued his hot hitting in the Blue Jays' Centennial Conference opener against Muhlenberg, going a combined 4-6 with five RBI in the two games. In game one the outfielder went 1-2 with two walks and two RBI as JHU won 11-0 and he followed that up in game two going 3-4 with two home runs and three RBI in a 19-1 Blue Jay victory.
 
DeGiacomo is now tied for the conference lead in home runs as he has hit five so far this season. His 14 RBI currently ranks third on the team while his .317 batting average is second best on the team.
 
Hopkins is back on the diamond, tomorrow, Tuesday, April 2 for a Centennial Conference matchup against Gettysburg. The Blue Jays will head to Pennsylvania to take on the Bullets with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 pm.
