Epstein Joins Marr on Tewaaraton Watch List

Freshman Attackman One of Just Three Rookies on 66-Man List

Official Tewaaraton Announcement of Additions to Watch List

WASHINGTON, DC – Johns Hopkins freshman attackman Joey Epstein has been added to the 2019 Tewaaraton Award Watch List it was announced today.  Epstein is the second Blue Jay named to the list as senior attackman Kyle Marr was on the original Watch List that was announced on February 28.  Today's announcement is the second addition to the list as 10 players were named in the first wave of additions on March 21.  Including the six players added today, there are now a total of 66 players on the Watch List.

There were no freshmen on the original 50-man list that was announced and none on the 10-man addition on February 28.  Epstein is one of just three freshmen on the list now as Penn's Sam Handley and Loyola's Chase Scanlan were also added today.

Through 10 games, Epstein counts 28 goals and 13 assists for 41 points to his credit.  He leads the team in goals and points and ranks second in assists.  His 2.8 goals per game rank second nationally among freshmen and his 4.1 points per game rank third among rookies.  In addition, Epstein has registered at least two points in all 10 games this season.  The 10-game multi-point run is longest by a Johns Hopkins player since Joel Tinney had an 11-game run last season.

Marr ranks second on the team in goals (21) and points (29) and tied for third in assists (8).  He has registered eight multi-goal and eight multi-point games on the year and will carry a 25-game point-scoring streak into this week's game against Johns Hopkins.  He tallied his 100th career goal in last week's 15-13 win over Rutgers and needs just two points to reach 150 points for his career.  With two more assists he'll become just the 14th player in school history to amass 100 career goals and 50 career assists.

On April 25, the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees. Nominees can be players on the watch lists or players not on the watch lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions.

Johns Hopkins (6-4, 2-0 B1G) will host Ohio State (7-2, 0-2 B1G) on Sunday, April 14 at 12 pm.  The game will air live on ESPNU.
