Aston tabbed as Centennial Player of the Week

LANCASTER, PA – Junior setter Natalie Aston of the Johns Hopkins volleyball team has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced this morning. It is the first such conference weekly honor in Aston's career.

Aston was an integral piece in the Blue Jays' 4-0 week, averaging 11.20 assists per set in wins over Randolph-Macon, Virginia Wesleyan, Washington & Lee and Mary Washington. A native of Woodland Hills, CA, the junior totaled a career-high 55 assists in Tuesday night's five-set win over Randolph-Macon. She also matched a career-high with six blocks in the match.

Her stellar play continued into the weekend where Aston took home Most Valuable Player honors at the UMW Classic. She tallied 113 assists in the three weekend matches, while adding 22 digs and five service aces. On the season, Aston is averaging 11.44 assists per set, which leads the Centennial Conference by more than two assists per set.

The Blue Jays (7-0) will play their first home match of the 2019 season tonight as they kick off the conference schedule against Bryn Mawr. Hopkins has defeated Bryn Mawr in each of the last 20 meetings between the two sides.
