Johns Hopkins Bests Gettyburg, 2-0

The Basics
• Score: #8 Johns Hopkins-2, Gettysburg-0
• Records: JHU (7-0-2, 3-0-0 CC) • GC (5-3-1, 2-2-0 CC)
• Location: Baltimore, MD • Homewood Field
• The Short Story: The eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins men's soccer team shut out visiting Gettysburg, 2-0, on Saturday night in Centennial Conference action.

How it Happened
• Hopkins jumped on the scoreboard in the seventh minute to grab the early lead. Freshman Ian Whamond collected a pass in the midfield, then played a through ball to sophomore Aidan Dunphy. He took one touch and then fired a right-footed shot just inside the right post from 10 yards out.
• In the 76th minute, junior Axel Whamond had Bullets' goalie Kevin Muhic beat on a shot from the left side, but it was cleared off the line by a defender.
• The Blue Jays then grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 87th minute. Senior Brian Lenzer sent a long ball over the Gettysburg defense. Graduate student Nate Charendoff collected the ball, dribbled down the right touchline and into the box. He then crossed the ball to the far side of the box to freshman Will Sangpachatanaruk trapped the ball, turned and blasted a shot into the top of the Bullets' goal.

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 53-22-11 all-time against Gettysburg and has won the last two meetings. This is the Blue Jays' first shutout of the Bullets since 2017.
• JHU pushes its season-opening unbeaten streak to nine games, the fourth longest in program history.
• The Blue Jays are the lone unbeaten team left in the Centennial Conference.
