Johns Hopkins Posts Clean Sheet Versus Goucher

The Basics
• Score: #6 Johns Hopkins-4, Goucher-0
• Records: JHU (8-0-2) • GC (4-6-2)
• Location: Baltimore, MD • Homewood Field
• The Short Story: The sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins men's soccer team erupted for four goals in the second half to shutout visiting Goucher, 4-0, in non-conference action Tuesday night.

How it Happened
• After being held at bay on nine shots in the first half, the Blue Jays scored three goals in just over 10 minutes to storm out to a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Aidan Dunphy put Hopkins on the board in the 48th minute with a penalty kick after Goucher was whistled for a hand ball in the box.
• Nearly six minutes later, freshman Logan Falzarano took the ball away from a Gopher defender, dribbled into the box and down the end line. He attempted to pass the ball back to a teammate, but the ball hit off a defender and snuck inside the near post.
• In the 59th minute, senior Brian Lenzer played a long ball 50 yards to junior Axel Whamond at the top of the box. Whamond volleyed the pass by Gopher goalie Jeff Castro and into the open next.
• Graduate student Nate Charendoff capped the scoring in the 72nd minute off a nice individual effort. He took a pass on the left touchline, dribbled past several defenders and then scored on a low, right-footed shot from 15 yards out.

What it Means
