How it Happened
1st Half
• Saturday's contest started slowly after a 15-minute heavy rain shower appeared over Baltimore to drench Homewood Field just before the start of the contest. Both teams took a minute to find their footing on the wet turf. The first real chance of the contest came in the 13
th minute for the Blue Jays as
Rachel Jackson bullied her way into the box and took a shot looking bottom left, but Sara Pecorelli made the save. Jackson tried to head home the rebound, but pushed it just wide. Hopkins struck in the 24
th minute as
Abigail Gerdes used her speed down the near sideline to carve out some space. Gerdes passed inside to Jackson who was knocked down in the box. With the ball bounding towards the goal line, Gerdes continued her run and played the ball into the box, finding
Emma Bocanegra who booted it in. In the 28
th minute, Muhlenberg put their first shot on target of the day, as Kate Johnson sent one in from deep, but it was well handled by
Caitlin Hendricks. JHU had one more real chance in the 41
st as
Elise Stanley got her foot on a beautiful cross into the box, but pushed it just left of the post.
2nd Half
• In the 49
th minute, the Jays built up a nice run, getting
Riley O'Toole the ball down the far sideline, just short of the end line. O'Toole played a low cross to
Sophia Stone who chipped it just over the cross bar and off the football goal post.
Alanna Craig got a great look in the 61
st minute, less than a minute after entering the contest, but her shot sailed just right of the net. In the 72
nd minute, Hopkins added some insurance. In a little bit of de ja vu from Wednesday's match, Stone took a free kick from about 30 yards out and found the head of
Bonnie Shea who deposited it in the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. Less than two minutes later, Sullivan made it 3-0 Hopkins. Sullivan danced around a defender, cleared space, and fired into the back of the net for her eighth goal of the year. Last, but not least, Jackson got the feed from a Stone throw-in, used her strength to hold position, turned and scored her fifth goal of the year in the 75th minute.

• The Blue Jays keep the edge in the race for the Centennial Conference regular season crown. Hopkins is three points ahead of McDaniel with two games to play.
Inside the Box Score
•
Rachel Jackson's 75th minute goal was a milestone for the senior forward. Despite losing her junior season to COVID-19, the Vienna, Va. native has scored 25 career goals. Jackson is the 20th Blue Jay in program history to reach 25 career goals. She joins teammate
Riley O'Toole in that group.
• Sullivan now has a point in 11 of her 14 career games as a Blue Jay, scoring her eighth goal of the season today. Sullivan is just one point away from the 10th-most points by a freshman in program history. She need eight points to match Jackson's 27 (2018) and 13 points to match O'Toole's 32 (2017).
• Bocanegra continues to impress off the bench AGAIN. The junior midfielder now has six goals on the season and she has scored four goals in her last three games. The junior has been ruthlessly efficient, scoring six goals on 12 shots.
• With a pair of assists, Stone has her first career multi-assist game as she continues to be a threat on set pieces.
