The Short Story: Senior
Jayden Kunwar scored a five-meter goal in the third overtime to lift the Johns Hopkins water polo team to an 11-10 win over top-seeded MIT Sunday afternoon in the CWPA Division III Eastern Championship.

How it Happened
• Hopkins jumped out to a two-goal lead on goals by Kunwar and junior
Chris Freese, but MIT answered with three of its own to take a 3-2 lead after one.
• Senior
Emerson Sullivan scored just 21 seconds into the second to tie the game at three. The Engineers then got back-to-back goals from Miller Geschke and Kaden DiMarco to go up 5-3 with 5:25 to play in the half. Sullivan scored just over two minutes later to spark a three-goal Blue Jay run that saw JHU take a 6-5 lead into the half.
• The teams traded goals over the first 2:06 of the third and Hopkins led 8-7. Jack King and Geschke scored a pair of goals in the final 2:36 to grab the lead for the Engineers heading into the fourth.
• Kyle Sandell scored 20 seconds into the fourth quarter to stake MIT to a 10-8 lead. Just 10 seconds later, Sullivan scored to pull the Blue Jays back within one. Sullivan then tied the game with a man-up goal with 2:03 to play in regulation.
• Hopkins and MIT played through the first two overtimes without a score. Then 25 seconds into the first sudden death period, the Blue Jays drew a five-meter. Kunwar cashed in on the penalty shot to give the Blue Jays the title.

• Hopkins improves to 31-12 all-time against MIT, including 19-7 at the CWPA DIII Eastern Championship.
• The Blue Jays are 76-9 all-time in the CWPA DIII Eastern Championship with 19 titles.
• Sullivan was named the championship MVP and head coach
Max Schlegel earned Coach of the Tournament honors. Sullivan also earned first team all-tournament team honors, along with Kunwar and freshman

• Sullivan finished with a game-high four goals to go with two steals and a block. Kunwar notched five points (3g, 2a), drew three ejections and had two steals. Sullivan is now tied for 22
nd in school history with 177 career points and is 19
th with 144 career goals.
