The Short Story: Host Franklin & Marshall scored twice in the final 20 minutes to slip past visiting Johns Hopkins in Centennial Conference men's soccer action Saturday evening.
How it Happened
• A scoreless first half saw both teams take six shots, but neither team could break through in the opening 45 minutes.
• The Diplomats nearly took a 1-0 lead in the 57
th minute, but a Connor Anderko offering found the crossbar instead of the net and the Blue Jay defense cleared to keep the game scoreless.
• F&M finally broke through in the 70
th minute when Isaac Mintz and Koa Kaliebe ran a perfect give-and-go with Kaliebe breaking the ice with his second goal of the season.
• The Diplomats would get the insurance goal they needed in the 87
th minute when Oscar Horwitz capitalized on a Blue Jay giveaway to net his second of the season as well.
What it Means
• Despite the loss, Johns Hopkins will be the number one seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament. The Blue Jays will host a semifinal game on Friday, November 5 against the winner of the first-round game.
