Blue Jays Hit Bye Week With a Pair of Top-15 National Rankings

BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins football team will carry a pair of top-15 national rankings into its bye week as the Blue Jays are ranked 13th in this week's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Poll and 15th in the D3football.com Poll.  The Blue Jays are 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the Centennial Conference after capping the first half of the season with a 66-10 win over Franklin & Marshall last Saturday at Homewood Field.

After consecutive weeks at #14 in the AFCA Poll, the Blue Jays inched up one spot to #13 this week.  Johns Hopkins earned 622 points in this week's poll and flipped spots with Washington & Jefferson, which had been ranked 13th last week.  Including this week's #13 ranking, Johns Hopkins has now been ranked in the top 25 of the AFCA Poll 103 times in 218 weeks since the poll debuted in 1999.  More recently, the Blue Jays have been ranked in the top 25 in 85 of the last 93 polls dating back to 2011.

After starting the season among the teams listed as receiving votes in the D3football.com, the Blue Jays rose in each of the following four weeks (25th, 23rd, 18th, 15th) before holding steady at #15 this week.  This week's #15 ranking marks the 114th time Johns Hopkins has appeared in the top 25 of the D3football.com (poll debuted in 2003).

Johns Hopkins will return to action on Friday, October 15 when the Blue Jays travel to Muhlenberg (4-1, 3-1 CC) for a top-25 matchup against the Mules.  Muhlenberg is ranked 22nd in this week's AFCA Poll and 21st in the D3football.com Poll.
