The Short Story: George Washington jumped out to a 5-0 lead and went on to beat the Johns Hopkins water polo team, 12-6, on Friday in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference quarterfinals.

How it Happened
• DJ Davis and Leo Lueddemann scored just 42 seconds apart late in the first quarter to give the Colonials a 2-0 lead after one. GW picked up where it left off, scoring three more to push its lead to 5-0 with 4:20 to play. In the half.

Olin Shipstead scored a man-up goal at the 3:48-mark to get the Blue Jays on the board. Sophomore
Liam Housenbold scored just over a minute later to make it a 5-2 game. Nick Schroeder end the Blue Jays' spurt with a five-meter goal and sent GW into the half with a 6-2 lead.
• Like the second quarter, the Colonials scored the first three goals of the period to push their lead out to 9-2. Sophomore
Seth Berke scored with 3:34 to play in the quarter to end the Colonials' run. Viktor Jovanovic answered to give GW a 10-3 lead heading into the fourth.
