th-ranked Trinity, 1-0, on Saturday to advance to the NCAA Championship game.
Â
How it Happened
• Hopkins had a pair of shots and earned four penalty corners in the first quarter but were unable to capitalize. Less than a minute into the second quarter, Trinity earned two corners and got two shots off but sophomore
Alexis Loder turned both away.
• Just over five minutes into the third quarter, the Blue Jays earned a corner and this time were able to get past the Bantam defense and Olivia McMichael. The defense had initially cleared the ball out of the circle, but junior
Olivia Fox intercepted the ball and sent it back into the middle of the circle. Senior
Abby Birk was there and one-timed a low, hard shot into the back of the cage.
• Midway through the fourth quarter, Loder again made back-to-back saves, to keep the Blue Jays on top, 1-0. Junior
Sadie Abboud had a good look as the clock ticked under three minutes, but McMichael made the save. The Bantam then got a corner with just eight ticks on the clock, but were unable to get a shot off.
