How it Happened
The Blue Jays stifled Washington College on Thursday night in Chestertown, MD, holding the Shorewomen to 41 points on just 25 percent shooting en route to a 56-41 road win in Centennial Conference play.

Hopkins turned over Washington College 16 times and turned it into 19 points off of turnover. The Jays outscored the Shorewomen by 14 over the second and third quarters.

After falling down 6-4 through just under four minutes of the first quarter, Diarra Oden knocked down a triple off a feed from Emily Howie to give the Jays a 7-6 lead. Two minutes later, Michaela O'Neil found Jadyn Murray who knocked down a mid-range jumper to put Hopkins up by three. The Shorewomen retook the lead on a Karry Kelliher jumper with 59 seconds left, but Natalie Mann drew a foul with just over three seconds left on the first quarter clock and hit two free throws to send the Jays into the second quarter with an 11-10 lead.

After a pair of free throws put the Shorewomen up 12-11 with eight minutes left in the half, Hopkins started to turn the tide. O'Neil scored on a put back to retake the lead for Hopkins with 7:13 to play in the half. The Jays never trailed again after that point, leading by as many as 19. With 5:55 in the second, Oden finished a layup off an offensive rebound to put the Jays up by five. The Shorewomen scored next, but a 7-0 run gave the Jays their first double digit lead of the game as Mann hit a triple to make it 24-14. After the run ended, Howie hit a three to push the lead back to 11 with 2:07 to play in the half. A quick 4-0 spurt for Washington College cut it to seven, but Murray scored in the post off a feed from Greta Miller and the Jays led by nine at halftime.

The JHU lead bounced between nine and 13 points for much of the quarter as Oden scored six points in the first 5:30 to give the Jays a 37-24 lead with less than 4:30 remaining in the period. After a three-point play from Oden and a triple hit by Howie, the Jays held their largest lead of the game at 43-24 with 3:11 left in the quarter. Washington College cut it to 14 with 94 seconds left before Miller knocked down a free throw with 47 seconds left to send the Jays into the fourth with a 15-point lead.

Miller hit a free throw early in the fourth before a 6-0 Shorewomen run cut the lead to 46-36. Oden stopped the spurt with a jumper to extend the lead to 12 with 5:29 to go in the contest. After a scoreless drought from both sides, Howie hit the dagger three with 2:12 left in the game to put it away for Hopkins. Oden hit a final pair of free throws with five seconds left to put the icing on a 15-point win for the Jays.
