The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team closed out the fall semester with a win over Wayne State at the 2021 Elite Invitational on Sunday.

How it Happened
• Hopkins opened the day with a loss to host Ohio State. Senior
Eryk Kokosinski, junior
Sachin Mehta and sophomore
William Hum each won a bout for the Sabre squad (3-6). Freshmen
Alan Zheng and
Alex Paek earned one win apiece for the Foil squad (2-7). And sophomore
Gabe Insler led the Epee squad (4-5) with two wins.
• JHU then dropped a tough 14-13 decision to UC San Diego just one day after beating the Tritons. Mehta and Hu each went 3-0 to lead the Sabre squad to a 7-2 win. Zheng, Paek and senior
Noah Park won one bout each for the Foil Squad (3-6). And in the Epee (3-6), Insler again led the way with two wins for the Jays.
• The Blue Jays rebounded with a 21-6 win over the Warriors. Kokosinski, Mehta and Hu led the Sabre squad to a 9-0 win. Zheng, Paek and Park won two bouts each to lead the Foil squad to a 6-3 win. And in the Epee, Insler, junior

Julius Dunn each earned two wins as JHU won 6-3.
