• The Short Story: The Blue Jay traveled to the Meet of Champions to face off with Division I competition, picking up another victory to start the 2021 season.

Race Highlights
Ella Baran returned to the course for the first time this season and picked right back up where she left off in the spring. The senior captain placed second at the event, finishing the race in 18:21.5. Monmouth's Sammi Ragenklint was the individual winner of the event with a time of 18:06.0. Racing against Division I competition, Hopkins placed two more runners in the top-10, Ashley Heidenrich & Paloma Hancock. After winning the JHU Kickoff Invitational, Heidenrich posted another strong time, finishing sixth with a time of 18:37.6. Hancock finished 10^th, crossing the finish line in 18:47.2. The top-five Blue Jays finished with a spread of 36 seconds as Sara Stephenson (18:56.2) and Diana Vizza (18:57.8) rounded out the scorers for JHU. Sydney Friedel and Lina Spjut made up the final two of the Hopkins top-seven, finishing 22^nd and 25^th.
