The Short Story: The eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins men's soccer team scored a goal in each half en route to a 2-1 win over host McDaniel Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened
• Hopkins got on the board in the 31
st minute thanks to a McDaniel foul deep in its defensive end. Senior
Liam Creedon took the free kick for the Blue Jays, but it was blocked in the box by a defender. The ball kicked out to freshman
Jacob Hammond, who one-timed the ball into the side of the Green Terror goal.
• The Blue Jays pushed their lead to two late in the game. Freshman
Will Sangpachatanaruk played the ball to the left side of the box and Creedon headed it back across the box, where sophomore
Aidan Dunphy knocked it just inside the post in the 73
rd minute. Â
• McDaniel ended Hopkins' shutout bid in the 81
st minute with a Justin Winborne-Freeman goal. A long throw in by Matt Bowes, was flicked on by Nick Starr to Winborne-Freeman, who headed it into the top of the net.

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 57-21-10 all-time against McDaniel and has won 14 straight in the series.
• The Blue Jays run their season-opening unbeaten streak to eight games.
