Johns Hopkins Draws with NC Wesleyan in Season Opener

The Basics
• Score: #17 Johns Hopkins-1, NC Wesleyan1-
• Records: JHU (0-0-1) • NCWC (0-0-1)
• Location: Fredericksburg, VA • Grass Field
• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's soccer team returned to the field after more than 650 days and battled to a 1-1 overtime draw versus NC Wesleyan at the UMW Classic.

How it Happened
Johns Hopkins peppered Bishops' goalie Matteo Torchio but it took until the 85th minute before the Blue Jays could get on the board. Freshman Diego Elias played a long ball across the field to graduate student Nate Charendoff on the right side of the box. Charendoff settled the ball, took a touch and slotted a low shot to the bottom left corner to put Hopkins up 1-0.

The lead was short-lived however as NC Wesleyan answered just 71 seconds later on a free kick. David Olabisi set up the free kick, about 40 yards out, and lofted the ball into the box that eluded graduate student goalie Xander LeFevre and knotted the score at one.

The teams would battle through 20 minutes of overtime, but neither could get the go-ahead goal.
