Bliss dubbed with a pair of weekly honors

Simone Bliss was named the Centennial Conference and AVCA National Player of the Week

LANCASTER, PA – For a fourth time in her illustrious Blue Jay career, graduate outside hitter, Simone Bliss, has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week. The weekly conference honor comes less than 24 hours after Bliss was named the AVCA Sports Imports Division III National Player of the Week. She was the first Hopkins player in volleyball program history to be named the National Player of the Week.

Bliss paced the Blue Jays with double-doubles in each of Hopkins' three wins over the weekend at the Bomber Invitational, highlighted by a 19-kill, 13-dig performance in the team's win over 12th-ranked Juniata. A reigning AVCA First Team All-American and Most Outstanding Player of the 2019 NCAA National Championships, Bliss finished the weekend averaging 4.50 kills per set and 3.80 digs per set while hitting .254 from the floor. That doesn't include her ten kill, five dig performance through 1.5 sets in the season opener against Stevenson - a match that was ultimately suspended because of a power outage at Goldfarb Gymnasium.

The #2 Blue Jays (3-0) will return to Goldfarb this weekend when they host the Greg "Gio" Giovanazzi Memorial Tournament beginning Friday evening. Hopkins will take on Birmingham-Southern Friday night at 7:30 p.m., before hosting Virginia Wesleyan (12 p.m.) and #25 Muskingum (4 p.m.) on Saturday.
