Three Second-Half Goals Power Third-Ranked JHU Past Dickinson

Filian Scores Twice as Jays Improve to 14-0-2

CARLISLE, PA – Graduate student Kacie Filian scored a pair of second-half goals and the third-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 4-0 win at Dickinson Wednesday evening.  The Blue Jays improve to 14-0-2 overall and 9-0 in the Centennial Conference, while the Red Devils slip to 8-6-2 overall and 5-2-2 in the Centennial.

After a scoreless opening 30 minutes, the Blue Jays broke through in the 31st minute off a corner kick as graduate students Kendall Dandridge and Breukelen Woodard connected to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  Dandridge played the corner to the near post, where Woodard had worked her way and she dropped down to head home her 12th goal of the season.

Johns Hopkins doubled its lead in the 50th minute as the Jays converted another corner into a goal.  Sophomore Katie Sullivan sent her offering to the far side of the box about six yards off the line, where Kacie Filian rocketed home a header to make it 2-0 with just over 40 minutes to play.

Filian pushed the lead to three in the 69th minute when she converted a penalty kick after a Blue Jay was taken down in the box and Callie Jones made it 2-for-2 on penalties as she converted another in the 82nd minute to close out the scoring.

Emma Huntzinger recorded three saves in goal to pick up the shutout for the Blue Jays.  Johns Hopkins outshot the Red Devils 20-3 and took eight of the 11 corner kicks in the game.

Johns Hopkins will return to action on Saturday, October 29 when the Blue Jays welcome Franklin & Marshall to Homewood Field for the final regular game of the 2022 season (3 pm).

Notes:  The Blue Jays have scored at least three goals in a school-record-tying seven straight games.  This is the third time in school history that JHU has scored at least three goals in seven straight games (2011, 2013).  The 66 goals JHU has scored in 16 games this season is already the fourth-highest single-season total in school history.
