Hopkins Blanks Bryn Mawr; Completes Undefeated CC Slate

BRYN MAWR, PA – The fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team shutout host Bryn Mawr, 1-0, in both teams' regular season finale Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays finish undefeated in conference play for the third straight year. JHU set a Centennial Conference record with zero goals allowed in conference play.

Novy Goetgeluk had a shot that eluded Blue Jay goalie Morgan Seward at the six-minute mark in the first quarter, but sophomore Liz Falterer was there with the defensive save to keep the game scoreless.

Graduate student Abby Birk scored the game's only goal midway through the second quarter as the Blue Jays capitalized on a penalty corner. Senior Siena Urbanski inserted the corner to classmate Sadie Abboud at the top of the circle. Abboud played the ball behind her back to Birk, who stepped up and fired a shot into the middle of the cage with 8:15 to play in the second.

Seward, junior Alexis Loder and freshman Phoebe Williams combined for the Blue Jays' 11th straight shutout Seward finished with two saves, while Loder made one save. Maggie Titus made eight saves while Courtney Cutone and Kate Ervin each made defensive saves. Hopkins had advantages in shots (17-7) and penalty corners (11-5)

Hopkins returns to action on Thursday, November 3 in the Centennial Conference semifinals. JHU will host the winner of Tuesday's game between the four and five seeds.

Notes: Hopkins is the first team in Centennial Conference field hockey history to not allow a goal in conference play • The previous record was three, held by both Ursinus (2015) and Johns Hopkins (2021) • Birk tied the Hopkins' record with her 13th career game-winning goal
