BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's and men's cross-country teams are heading to the NCAA Championships this weekend. It is the sixth consecutive season that both teams have qualified for the championships.
Men's Team Qualifies with an At-Large Bid
After finishing second in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional last Saturday, the Blue Jay men's team received an at-large bid to compete in the NCAA championships this upcoming weekend. It is the sixth straight season the men have qualified for the NCAA championships. Junior
Gavin McElhennon won the individual regional championship last Saturday and was the first runner to win for the program since 1991. The other four scorers for the Blue Jays finished in the top 22 to help Johns Hopkins to a second-place finish at the region. The Blue Jays will attempt to win their first ever NCAA team championship this weekend.
Women's Team Takes the Region
The Blue Jay women's team won its' 14
th straight NCAA Mid-Atlantic regional team title last Saturday at Loch Haven University to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA championships. The Blue Jays were led by
Alex Ross, who became the program's eighth NCAA regional champion. Johns Hopkins had all five scoring runners finish in the top 15 and had all seven participants finish in the top 26. The Blue Jays will go for their third consecutive NCAA team championship this weekend.
Johns Hopkins will travel to East Lansing, MI to compete this Saturday.
