#19 George Washington Hands Hopkins 16-11 Loss

ARLINGTON, VA – Host and 19th-ranked George Washington defeated Johns Hopkins, 16-11, in MAWPC action Friday night.

The teams traded goals throughout the first quarter and it was a 4-4 game after one. Sophomore Ian Raley scored to open the second and put the Blue Jays on top 5-4, but the Colonials answered with six straight to storm out to a 10-5 lead. Senior Kami Eslami ended the run and made it a four-goal game at the break with a goal in the final 30 seconds.

Graduate student Emerson Sullivan sandwiched a pair around a goal from junior Seth Berke and just like the lead was down to one with 4:40 to play in the third. GW responded with three in a row and took a 13-9 lead into the fourth quarter. The Colonials scored the first two of the fourth quarter to push their lead to six. Freshman Gavin Brooke and Eslami scored back-to-back goals to trim the lead to four. That's as close as the Blue Jays could get however as the Colonials tacked on one more in the final 20 seconds.

Hopkins returns to action on Sunday, November 6 with a pair of home games versus Fordham and Navy.
