The Short Story:Â Host and third-ranked Northwestern used a third-quarter eight-goal run to take control en route to a 19-12 win over the Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team Saturday.

How it Happened
• With the game tied at eight in the third quarter, Northwestern scored goal straight goals to break open the game. Brennan Dwyer sparked the run with a free position goal at the 9:47-mark Six different Wildcats scored during the run saw NU go up 15-8 after three.
• Northwestern jumped out to a 3-0 lead but a pair of
Abbey Hurlbrink goals in an 81-second span cut the deficit to one with 3:56 to play in the first. Erin Coykendall put the Cats back up by two, but
Madison McPherson went coast-to-coast after grabbing a rebound on the defensive end and beat Madison Doucette on the doorstep. Dwyer answered with 52 seconds left in the quarter to put NU up 5-3 after one.
• Jill Girardi made it two straight for the home team, scoring at 9:28 in the second. The Blue Jays answered with three goals in a three-minute span to knot the score at six.
Bailey Cheetham got things going with a free position goal, followed by a
Claire Mills transition goal.
Jeanne Kachris carried into the offensive end on the clear, drew a double team and then found Mills in the alley for the score. Just two minutes later, Mills cashed in a on free position shot to make it 6-6. Gilbert had the final say of the half however, scoring with just 0.8 seconds remaining to give NU the lead at the break.

Shelby Harrison didn't need long to tie the game up in the third as she dodged to the cage off a restart and scored from in-tight. Coykendall put the Cats back on top with a free position goal but
George Gorelick answered for the Blue Jays, tying the game at eight with 10:33 to go in the third. Northwestern responded with that game-changing eight-goal run.
• Harrison ended the run at the 8:41-mark in the fourth. She dodged the left alley, slipped inside her defender and dropped her stick to beat Doucette from two yards out. NU answered with a three-goal spurt to push the lead to 18-9 with 6:35 to play. Gorelick got one back for the Blue Jays when she dodged from behind, spun on her defender and scored from the doorstep.
• Greta Stahl answered less than a minute later to stake the Cats to a 19-10 lead with 3:47 on the clock. McPherson would score twice in a 59-second span to make it a 19-12 final. Â

What it Means
• Hopkins falls to 4-17 all-time against Northwestern as the Cats win their sixth straight in the series.
Inside the Box Score
• Gorelick (2g, 1a), Mills (2g, 1a) and McPherson (3g) led the Blue Jays with three-points each. McPherson had three ground balls and a caused turnover to go with her hat trick. Â
• Harrison and Hurlbrink added two goals each. Harrison's first goal of the game was the 100
th point of her career. She is the 26
th player in school Division I history to reach the mark. She also had a team-high four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

Annika Meyer had two takeaways to go with three ground balls, while Kachris also had three ground balls.
Kathleen Garvey finished with 12 saves in the cage. That's her fourth double digit save performance in the last five games. Â
• Gilbert led the Wildcats with six goals and seven points, while Girardi (3g,1a) and Leah Holmes (1g, 3a) had four points each. Girardi also had a game-high 15 draw controls. Doucette finished with four saves in the win.
