Garrett Degnon has been named Second Team All-Big Ten as the league announced the 2022 All-Big Ten Team and individual player of the year honors today. This is the first time in his career that Degnon has been named to the All-Big Ten Team.
In addition to Degnon's selection, the Blue Jays also placed senior defenseman
Jake Calnan on the Big Ten's six-man All-Sportsmanship Team.
Degnon currently counts 34 goals and seven assists for 41 points to his credit in 14 games this season. All three totals are career highs for Degnon, whose 34 goals and 41 points lead the team. Degnon made the move from midfield to attack six games into this season and has flourished there. In nine games on attack, he has 26 goals and five assists for 31 points with five hat tricks and four games with five or more points to his credit.
Entering Saturday's B1G Quarterfinal game at Penn State, Degnon has career totals of 68 goals and 10 assists for 78 points. He ranks sixth in the B1G in goals per game this season (2.43) and has registered nine multi-goal games on the year.
Fourth-seeded Johns Hopkins will host fifth-seeded Penn State in one of two Big Ten Quarterfinal game scheduled for Saturday, April 30. Faceoff at Homewood Field is set for 1 pm with a live video stream of the game available on HopkinsSports.com. The winner of the Johns Hopkins-Penn State game will take on top-seeded and top-ranked Maryland in the B1G Semifinals on Thursday, May 5 (5:30 pm). Both B1G Semifinal games and the title game will played at Maryland and air live on BTN.
