BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins water polo senior
Jayden Kunwar was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team it was announced today. He earned third team honors for the second straight year. Kunwar is one of just three water polo players in the nation, across all three divisions, to earn Academic All-America honors.
Kunwar graduated last month with a bachelor's degree in computer science. The Blue Jay water polo program has now produced seven CoSIDA Academic All-America selections. Kunwar is just the second player in program history to earn the honor twice, joining Jeremy Selbst (2010, 2011).
A two-time All-American, Kunwar ranks in the top-20 in school history in goals (12
th / 193), assists (T-18th / 60) and points (16
th / 253). He has led Johns Hopkins to second (2021) and fourth (2019) place finishes at the USA Division III Water Polo National Championships. This season, he led the Blue Jays in points (88) and drawn ejections (41), ranked second in goals (60) and assists (28) and was tied for fourth in steals (24). Kunwar totaled 11 hat tricks and had at least one in point in 25 of his 26 games in 2021. He also scored 14 five-meter goals and has 45 in his career.
Kunwar worked as a summer analyst at General Atlantic and SoftBank Investment Advisors the last two summers. For the last two years, he was a managing partner of A-Level Capital, leading a team of more than 20 undergraduates at a student-run VC firm. In addition, he worked as a research and development engineer at Benvenue Medical in the summer of 2019.
