th-ranked Emory on Saturday in the opening game of the Blue Jay Invitational. The Blue Jays improve to 3-0-1 on the season while the Dragons fall to 2-2-0.
Jack Coleman nearly opened the scoring in just the third minute with a hard shot from the top of the box, but graduate student
Alex Morgret turned it aside. Just 40 seconds later, he had another go from the outside, but again Morgret was there.
Some nice passing led to the Blue Jays' first goal in the 62

th minute off a free kick by Riley Williams, however
Morgret
made the stop. Hopkins then added an insurance goal in the 79

Ian Whamond stole the ball from a Dragon defender, eluded a second and then sent a through ball to his older brother
Axel Whamond, who was streaking down the middle of the field.
Axel Whamond ran onto the ball, sidestepped a defender, and slotted home a low shot from 10 yards out.
The Dragons had one last good look in the 80
th minute off another free kick. Cade Denlinger's shot from distance rang off the crossbar and rebounded right to Matt Shultz, whose one-timer just missed wide right of the goal.
Morgret finished with six saves to post his third shutout of the season. Luke van Galen made one save in the loss for the Dragons.
