BRYN MAWR, PA – The fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team scored five first-half goals en route to a 6-0 win over host Bryn Mawr in both teams' Centennial Conference opener Saturday afternoon.
Hopkins jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the game's opening 11. Off a throw-in, sophomore
Katie Sullivan passed the ball back to graduate student
Kendall Dandridge, who took one touch and fired a shot into the left corner from 20 yards out in the 8
th minute. Less than three minutes later, Sullivan dribbled down the left side before crossing the ball into the six-yard box. Graduate student
Breukelen Woodard one-timed a left-footed shot into the middle of the goal to give the Blue Jays a two-goal lead.
Sullivan then got her name in the scoring column when she bent a corner kick just under the cross bar in the 26
th minute. Exactly three minutes later, Hopkins pushed its lead to four on the first of two
Lily Gaston goals. Freshman
Maria Romo-Nichols spun on her defender at the top of the box and passed to Gaston on her left. Gaston ran onto the ball and one-timed a shot inside the right post. In the 32
nd minute, Gaston dribbled towards the box from the left side line and then ripped a shot from 20 yards out, off the goalie's hands and into the goal.
Freshman
Natalie Smith closed out the scoring in the 61
st minute, when she volleyed the ball into the top of the goal from eight yards out.

Priya Gillan and
Divya Inaganti shared time in the goal, with Gillan making one save. Natalia Ghorzepa made 10 saves in the first half for the Owls, while Emma Rya finished with seven saves in the second half.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, September 21 at Swarthmore. The Centennial Conference contest is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
