Rosen, Blue Jays Knock off Haverford, 3-0

Rosen Scores Twice, Collects Assist in Centennial Victory

BALTIMORE, MD – Rebecca Rosen came off the bench and scored two goals and added one assist to lead the fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Haverford at Homewood Field Saturday afternoon.  The Blue Jays run their season-opening unbeaten streak to eight as they are now 6-0-2 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial Conference.  Haverford slips to 3-2-3 overall and 0-1-2 in the CC.

Rosen wasted little time making her mark on the game as she subbed on in the 14th minute and opened the scoring less than two minutes later.  Hopkins' Megha Salvi dropped one from the wing back to Sophia Stone, who lifted a perfect ball into the middle of the box that Rosen got a head on and sent past a sprawling Claire Cywes in goal for the Fords.

The 1-0 lead held into the early part of the second half when the Blue Jays doubled their one-goal lead on a Rachel Jackson strike.  After Cywes stopped Rosen from in tight, Jackson fired the rebound into the open net to give the Blue Jays the 2-0 lead.

Hopkins got an insurance goal in the 80th minute, this one off a rebound as well.  After Cywes made a nice kick save on a Ella Macko shot from five yards, Rosen cleaned up the rebound with a seven-yard rip past a defenseless Cywes to close the scoring.
The Blue Jays dominated the stat sheet as they held decisive advantages in shots (21-3) and corners (13-1); Cywes posted eight saves in goal for the Fords, while Emma Huntzinger went the distance in goal for the Blue Jays and was not forced to make a save.

Johns Hopkins will return to action on Wednesday, September 28 when the Blue Jays welcome Shenandoah to Homewood Field for a non-conference matchup with the Hornets (7 pm).

Notes of Interest:  Johns Hopkins has scored at least three goals in each of its last four games – the longest such streak for JHU since a five-game run late in the 2016 season.
