BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team won for the seventh time in eight games, including its third in a five-day span, as the Blue Jays eased past visiting Ursinus, 53-37, in Goldfarb Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 10-4 overall and 7-2 in the Centennial Conference with the victory, while the Bears slip to 5-9 overall and 2-7 in the Centennial.

In a game that was never tied and the Blue Jays never trailed, Hopkins jumped out to a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, pushed the lead to 28-16 at the half and led by as many as 20 late in the third quarter in running in regular season home winning streak to 15 games dating back to last season.

After falling behind by 12 at the half, the Bears made it a 10-point game (30-20) early in the third quarter on a pair of
Chinwe Irondi free throws, but Hopkins responded with a a 12-2 run that quickly extended the lead to 42-22. Sophomore
Michaela O'Neil scored seven points during the run, which was capped by a
Zoe Soule three-pointer with 3:59 on the third quarter clock.

Ursinus used a 10-1 spurt that bridged the third and fourth quarters to pull within 43-32 early in the fourth quarter; Irondi fueled the run as she scored six of the 10 points during the spree for the Bears.

Jadyn Murray free throws quickly extended the lead to 47-32 with just over six minutes remaining and the Bears were never closer than 12 down the stretch.

Olivia Parisi scored a game-high 16 points and added seven rebounds to lead the way offensively for the Blue Jays; this is the fourth time in five games she's led JHU in scoring.
• O'Neil added 12 points and eight reboiunds; the 12-point effort marks her team-best eighth double-figure scoring game of the season.
• The Blue Jays won the rebounding battle for the 10
th time this season as they held a 40-29 advantage on the glass and turned their 11 offensive rebounds into 16 second chance points.

• Irondi scored a team-high 15 points and added seven rebounds. She did a lot of her work at the free throw line where she was 9-of-12 on the day.

Madison Smith was the only other player to score more than 10 points for the Bears as she chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds.

• Johns Hopkins improved to 44-9 all-time against Ursinus with today's win.
• The Blue Jays pulled into a tie for first place in the Centennial Conference after Dickinson fell at Haverford, 52-50. Johns Hopkins and Dickinson are both now 7-2 in league play.
