Hopkins Tops F&M, 57-37, For Fifth Straight Win

Blue Jays Outscore Diplomats 32-18 After Halftime

BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team outscored visiting Franklin & Marshall 32-18 in the second half to break open a close game as the Blue Jays knocked off the visiting Diplomats, 57-37, in Goldfarb Gym Wednesday night.  With the victory, the Blue Jays run their winning streak to five games and improve to 11-4 overall and 8-2 in the Centennial Conference.  The Diplomats slip to 6-9 overall and 3-7 in the Centennial.

The win, coupled with a 60-57 loss by Dickinson at Gettysburg, leaves the Blue Jays alone in first place in the Centennial; Haverford, Gettysburg and Dickinson all have three losses in league play.

After leading by as many as eight in the first half, the Blue Jays carried a 25-19 lead into halftime.  A Greta Miller layup and a conventional three-point play from Macie Feldman quickly pushed the lead to 30-19 less than a minute into the third quarter.  The Diplomats hung around and had the lead down to seven on three different occasions over the next six minutes with the last of those coming after Ally Trebelev nailed a pair of free throws to make it 38-31 with 3:21 remaining on the third quarter clock.

Johns Hopkins put the game away with a 17-2 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters and pushed the lead to 55-33 with just under three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.  Seven different players scored for the Blue Jays during the spree with Olivia Parisi and Jadyn Murray scoring four points apiece to fuel the spree, which started with a Murray layup and ended with a driving layup from freshman Elisabeth Peebles.

During the 17-2 spurt, the Blue Jay defense limited the Diplomats to just a pair of free throws and Franklin & Marshall didn't hit its first field goal in the fourth quarter until Lizzie Neville converted a driving layup at the 2:44 mark.
