WASHINGTON, DC – The Johns Hopkins women's swim team traveled to the nation's capital to take on George Washington in the Blue Jays' first competition in six weeks. The Blue Jays won three events and earned five runner-up finishes.
Graduate student
Kristen Alicea-Jorgensen grabbed the Blue Jays' first win of the day as she swam a 24.35 in the 50 Free. Sophomore
Michelle Liu followed with a win in the 100 Free as she beat the field with a time of 53.13. The Blue Jays then closed out the meet on a winning note by taking first in the 200 Free Relay. Liu, senior

Claire Han and Alicea-Jorgensen combined for a winning time of 1:37.17.
Hopkins opened the meet with a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. Junior
Cameron Roche, sophomore
Taylor Rohovit, Lahr and Alicea-Jorgensen turned in a time of 1:49.12. Sophomore
Kristin Cornish then placed second in the 1000 Free as she touched in 10:26.97. Sophomore
Meg Susil finished in fourth place with a time of 10:34.94.
Liu grabbed second place in the 200 Free a she touched in 1:55.41. She beat Han by just one tenth of a second for the second spot. Roche followed with a fourth-place finish in the 100 Back (59.57), while freshman
Katherine Chelus took fourth in the 100 Breast (1:08.09). Senior
Emerson Davis finished in third place in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:11.34.
Roche swam to a second-place finish in the 200 Back with a time of 2:06.96. Junior
Makenzie Higgins followed in third place as she clocked in at 2:07.33. Rohovit placed fourth in the 200 Breast in 2:28.67. Cornish then earned a second runner-up finish with a swim of 5:06.82 in the 500 Free. Freshman
Alex Watson finished in fourth place with a time of 5:10.49.
Davis turned in a time of 59.54 to grab second place in the 100 Fly. Freshman
Rachel Davis followed with a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM in 2:14.24. The Blue Jays also took fourth place in the final event of the day, the 200 Free Relay (GW swam exhibition). Freshman
Alia Basler, Higgins, graduate student
Sophia Girgenti and Watson combined for a time of 1:39.42.
Hopkins returns to action next Friday, January 20 at Georgetown.
