CHESTERTOWN, MD- The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team had a tough task in front of them on Tuesday night, playing the top scoring team in the conference on the road. The Blue Jays looked to continue to hold their place as the top seeded team in the Centennial Conference. JHU prevailed over Washington College, 47-33, to sweep the regular season series with the Shorewomen.

Johns Hopkins was known for its defensive prowess for the entirety of the season up to the game Tuesday night, coming in with the 7
th best scoring defense in the country (47.5 PPG). Even with their success defensively, the Blue Jays gave one of their best defensive performances of the season in the first half against Washington College. Shots all over the floor were difficult for the Shorewomen with JHU defenders constantly applying pressure. Washington College could only muster ten points in the entire half while shooting just 3-for-20 from the field (15%). The Blue Jays also forced 11 turnovers, scoring ten points off those takeaways to march out to a 25-10 lead.

JHU got things going from beyond the arc in the first half, knocking down four triples.
Natalie Mann hit a pair of those with freshmen
Kendall Dunham and
Elisabeth Peebles scoring the other two. Mann led the charge offensively for the Blue Jays with eight points in the first half.

The Blue Jays would keep their foot on the gas in the third quarter, going on an 11-2 run to push the lead out to 36-14 with 4:35 remaining in the quarter. Hopkins made five of its six shots from the floor during the run. This spurred JHU on to taking a 37-17 lead into the final period.

Washington College cut into the deficit in the fourth quarter, making it a 41-27 game with 4:40 to go in regulation. After a Johns Hopkins timeout, Michaela O'Neal put a stop to the little momentum the Shorewomen had by swishing a three in the right corner to push the lead back up to 17. The Blue Jays would go on to win 47-33 for their fourth consecutive double-digit victory.

The Blue Jays held Washington College to just 20.5% from the floor, which is the second lowest field goal percentage against JHU this season. Johns Hopkins have now held four straight opponents to 25% or lower from the floor.

Mann led the Blue Jays in scoring with a baker's dozen 13 points, while going 3-for-3 from three-point range.
Greta Miller was next in line with seven points, also grabbing eight boards and coming away with a career-high six steals. Johns Hopkins now holds a seven-game win streak and sits a half game above Haverford for first place in the Centennial.

The Shorewomen were led in points by Kaitlyn Boggs who finished with eight, followed by Joy Sanders who had seven. Washington College dropped to 11-7 (7-6) and sit in sixth place in the conference.

Next up for the Blue Jays is a rematch with Swarthmore at Goldfarb Gym on Saturday, January 28th (4 pm). JHU knocked off the Garnet 61-49 in their matchup earlier this season.
