BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team outscored visiting Swarthmore 45-24 in the second and third quarters combined to fuel a a 66-48 win over the Garnet in Goldfarb Gym Saturday afternoon. The win is the eighth straight and 11
th in the last 12 games for the Blue Jays, who improve to 14-4 overall and 10-2 in the Centennial Conference with the victory. Swarthmore had its three-game winning streak snapped and slips to 7-11 overall and 5-8 in the Centennial.

The Blue Jays led 12-10 at the end of the first quarter and trailed 17-16 early in the second quarter after a
Dana Bandurick layup with 6:39 remaining in the half. From there, Johns Hopkins outscored the Garnet 20-3 to end the half and grab what proved to be an insurmountable 36-20 halftime lead.

Three players did all the damage during the game-turning second quarter run for the Blue Jays as
Michaela O'Neil scored eight points and
Olivia Parisi and
Kendall Dunham added six points apiece to fuel the spree. An O'Neil three-pointer 10 seconds after Bandurick's bucket ignited the run and she later added another triple that made it 28-20. After
Nora Wingfield's turnaround jumper had made it 25-20, O'Neil's second three-pointer of the opening half ignited an 11-0 spurt to close the half.

Any hopes for a Swarthmore comeback were dashed in a third quarter that saw the Blue Jays hit 5-of-6 from beyond the arc as they outscored the Garnet 21-14 in the period.
Zoe Soule hit a pair of those five three-pointers in the period and O'Neil,
Natalie Mann and
Greta Miller added one each as the Blue Jays pushed out to a 57-34 lead entering the final quarter.

Swarthmore was never closer than 18 in the final 10 minutes as the Blue Jays subbed liberally with 12 different players seeing time in the fourth quarter.

• O'Neil paced the Blue Jays with a game-high 15 points and added four rebounds. She was 6-of-9 from the floor and hit all three of her three-point attempts in the victory.
• Parisi added 12 points and seven rebounds while Miller (7 points / 8 rebounds) and Soule (8 points / 3 rebounds) combined for 15 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.
• Johns Hopkins shot 29-of-61 (.475) from the floor; the .475 shooting percentage is the second best of the season for the Blue Jays.
• Hopkins outrebounded the Garnet 43-28 to win the rebounding battle for the 14
th time this season.
• The Blue Jays had a season-high nine blocked shots on the day with
Abby St. Onge collecting three of those.

• Bandurick and Wingfield tied for the team-lead with nine points each for the Garnet.
• Swarthmore got five points and six rebounds from
Caroline Selinger, but no other Garnet player had more than three rebounds as they lost the rebounding battle by 15.
• The Garnet had averaged 60 points during the three-game winning streak, but were held under 50 for just the second time in the last six games.

• The Blue Jays remain alone in first place in the Centennial Conference with today's victory.  In fact, while not every team in the league has played the same number of conference games to-date, Johns Hopkins' two league losses are two less than any other team in the league.
• During their eight-game winning streak, the Blue Jays have held each of their opponents to 49 points or less.
• Hopkins improved to 9-0 at home this season and the Blue Jays have won 17 straight regular season games in Goldfarb Gym dating back to last season.
